IBN is an intelligent topology that monitors overall network performance, identifies problems and resolves them automatically without human intervention. It is network software that helps in planning, designing and implementing/operating networks that can improve network availability and flexibility. Another part of the population considers IBN to be lifecycle management software for network infrastructure.The definition of IBN proposed by Gartner includes the following four components: – Translation and validation: The system takes higher-level business policies from end users and translates them into the necessary network configurations, and generates and validates the final design and configurations to ensure correctness. – Automated Implementation: The system can configure appropriate network changes on the existing network infrastructure, accomplished through network automation or network orchestration – Network State Awareness: The system provides real-time network state for systems under its management control and is protocol and transport agnostic. – Assurance and automated optimization/remediation: The system continuously verifies that the original business intent is achieved and can take corrective action if the desired intent cannot be achieved. IBN Concept The IBN is a closed-loop network architecture that is built and operated based on human business intent with knowledge of its own “holographic state”.
