There are various termination options for on-site wiring of the chassis, including external termination panels (ETPs) and fan-shaped cables. ETP is an electrically passive printed circuit board Q that can be easily connected to for field wiring. Transfer the input signal from the field to the input module, or directly transmit the signal generated by the output module to the field wiring, allowing for the removal or replacement of the input or output module without disturbing the field wiring. When using digital input or digital output modules, fan-shaped cables are a substitute for ETP. One end of the fanout cable is connected to the Tricon backplane, and the other end provides 50 fanout leads, each with a separate pin number that matches the connector signal. The communication module implements serial and network communication, as well as various communication protocols. SLS1508

The logic solver (SLS1508) includes logic solving capabilities and provides interfaces for 16 I/O channels, which can be configured as discrete input, discrete output, analog input (HART), and dual state output channels for HART. The logic solver and wiring board are installed on an 8-width bracket. The logic solver communicates with each other through a dual channel, local peer-to-peer bus (SISnet), and remote peer-to-peer ring through a carrier. The local logic solver is hosted by the same DeltaV controller, while the remote logic solver is hosted by different DeltaV controllers. The logic solver is powered by a 24V DC power supply, which is separate from the power supply driving the DeltaV controller and I/O.

The logic solver is installed in odd slots (1,3,5,7) on an 8-width carrier. The redundant logic solver uses four slots. The SISnet repeater extends communication beyond the local logic solver connected to a DeltaV controller, and broadcasts global messages to the remote logic solver through a fiber optic ring carrier extender cable to expand local bus power and signals between 8 wide carriers. The local peer-to-peer bus extension cable extends the local peer-to-peer bus (SISnet) between logical solvers on different carriers. A 1-width carrier with a terminal terminates the local peer-to-peer bus at the final carrier.
