ProTech-GII is an overspeed safety device designed to safely shut down steam, gas, and hydraulic turbines of various sizes when an overspeed or over acceleration event is detected. Feature: Acceleration detection: ProTech-GII can also be configured to protect the turbine from high acceleration events. The derivative of the speed signal is used to detect turbine acceleration and issue relevant trip commands. Through this testing routine, each module will use an internal frequency generator to simulate overspeed conditions and complete its testing sequence. ProTech-GII uses a special conformal coating material, which has excellent long-term protection against H2S and SO2 gases, and its level complies with the international standard IEC 721-3-3 1994-environmental level 3C2. The triple module design of ProTech-GII allows users to easily replace one of the modules (A, B, C) while the turbine is online and running normally.

This ProTech GII model is a panel mounted, high/low voltage power input, voting relay/voting input safety device used for steam turbine overspeed protection. The 8237-1600 model can be configured for use with turbines of any size, as long as it is powered by steam, natural gas, or water. The speed reading of the over acceleration device is between 4 and 20 mA. If a turbine of any size begins to accelerate dangerously, the model will safely shut it down.
