The 1756-OX8I is an Allen-Bradley product for the ControlLogix platform. This module is a relay output module consisting of eight (8) normally open (N.O) and eight (8) normally closed (N.C) independently isolated contacts.

Since this is a contact output module, each contact can be individually connected to an AC voltage in the range of 10 – 240 VAC or a DC voltage in the range of 5 – 125 VDC. This allows the module to power output devices operating in different voltage categories. Output devices such as contactors, motor starters, variable frequency drives, indicator lights, signaler panels, audible devices, motors and equipment are some of the loads that may be connected to this module.

The module’s output channels are individually isolated, but can also be wired as non-isolated relay output modules. This can be accomplished by using the 1756-JMPR or a third party jumper shorting the L1 connection of a removable terminal block (RTB).

Compatible RTBs for use with relay output modules are the 1756-TBCH and 1756-TBS6H. these modules are purchased separately. By using the rtb, output termination is modularized and module installation, troubleshooting, and replacement are simplified. the rtb prevents rewiring or termination of output signals.

In addition, the expected contact life per contact output is 300 kHz for resistive loads and 100 kHz for inductive loads. it has a switching frequency of 1 operation/3 s (0.3 Hz at rated load) and an average bounce time of 1.2 ms. the rtb is also available as a stand-alone module.
