The Allen-Bradley 1769-OF8C is a compact input/output module. The module is compatible for use with the 1769 and certain 1768 CompactLogix controllers as well as MicroLogix 1500 controllers. The module is an analog output module typically used to drive the final control element (FCE) of a control loop as well as to send signals to receiving and measuring elements.

The 1769-OF8C primarily features eight (8) single-ended current output channels configurable for 0-20 mA and 4-20 mA. It has a built-in 16-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) with resolutions of 15.59 bits at 0.323 A/bit (for 4-20 mA currents) and 15.91 bits at 0.323 A/bit (for 0-20 mA currents), respectively. All channels have a conversion rate of 5 ms, a step response of less than 2.9 ms for 63% of the outputs, and analog output ranges of 0-21 mA and 3.2-21 mA.

Typical final control elements (FCEs) that can be driven by the 1769-OF8C are modulating control valves, variable frequency drives (VFDs), positioners, and other devices. For use in automatic control loops, the module can be integrated into a proportional + integral + differential (PID) controller embedded in the processor. Compatible receiving and measuring elements that can receive signals from this device are panel meters, data loggers, signal splitters and other similar types of devices.

The 1769-OF8C is a single-wide module that can be mounted on 1769 and 1768 CompactLogix assemblies as part of the Local I/O and Expansion I/O racks. It can also be used with MicroLogix 1500 controllers.
