The 3500/22M Transient Data Interface (TDI) is compatible software between 3500 monitoring systems (System 1 Status Monitoring and Diagnostic Software and 3500 System Configuration Software). The TDI combines the functionality of the 3500/20 Framework Interface Module (RIM) with a data collection capability processor for communication, such as TDXnet. TDI is located in 3500 slots adjacent to the power supply. It continuously collects steady-state and transient dynamic (waveform) data with M-series displays (3500/40M, 3500/42M, etc.) and transmits this data to the host software through Ethernet connection. Please refer to the compatibility section for more information. The static data collection capability is a standard configuration of TDI. However, using optional channel enabled disks will allow TDI to capture dynamic and high-resolution transient data as well. TDI integrates the processor functions within the communication 3500 framework. Although TDI provides some coverage for the entire rack, it is not a part of the critical monitoring path and does not affect the overall normal operation of the automatic mechanical protection monitoring system. Each -3500 rack requires a TD or RIM, which always occupies slot 1 (next to the power supply).
