The DC power of the rack can enter the subrack through the DC input card. This power supply can be provided by the user from an external nominal 24V DC power supply. The DC power supply is connected to all cards in the rack through the engineering card and subrack backplane, and is protected by fuses on the DC input card. There is a two part terminal board TB1 that helps to remove the card without disconnecting each connecting wire.
To prevent excessive current from occurring along the rack backplane during installation using more than eight 5704 catalytic cards, it is recommended to control the power supply of the card through its associated four relay interface cards and DC input cards that are only used to power the engineering card.
If necessary, a backup battery power supply can also be connected to the auxiliary DC input connection.
The PSU and auxiliary connections are isolated from each other through diodes.
The DC input card also provides RFI filtering and reverse polarity protection.
