The Honeywell C-series I/O modules are equipped with a unique patented hot channel shape, and their components can be implemented in a redundant manner to provide a solution without single points of failure. These highly flexible modules can be placed in both local and remote locations of the control processor. Honeywell C-series I/O modules and I/O termination components (IOTA) perform diagnostic input and output scanning and processing on all on-site I/O data and event execution modules. In order to more effectively utilize controller resources, I/O processing and control processing functions are executed separately, so the I/O sampling rate is completely independent of the number of I/Os, controller loading, processing, and alarms. It also allows for more effective use of advanced control processor functionality and provides future I/O extensions.
