EcoStruxure “Foxboro” DCS field control processor 280 (FCP280) is a distributed, optional fault-tolerant, on-site installed controller module. FCP280 is connected to the Foxboro DCS fieldbus module (fbm) to perform regulation, logic, timing, and sequential control. It also performs data collection and alarm detection and notification. FCP280 is connected to the Foxboro DCS control network through a standard fiber optic or copper 100mbps Ethernet cable installed on its backplane through a network adapter (see figure below). FCP280 requires Foxboro DCS Control Core Services software v9.0 and above. The system composed of FCP280 and this software is called the ecostrucxure Foxboro DCS process automation system. The optional dual cable backplane supports four PIO channels, but provides separate A/B bus connectors and dedicated connectors for optional time strobe inputs. The fieldbus connection from the optional dual cable backplane to the standard or compact 200 series FBM requires separate A/B bus cables and dual “D” connection adapters on the FBM backplane (RH926KW).
