当晶体管基极为高电平时，晶体管饱和导通，等效电路如图3所示， 此时电感l储存能量，电容C充电。当晶体管基极为低电平时，晶体管截止，等效电路如图4所示,此时电感L释放能量，电容C放电。通常我们的PCB板上还有采样电路,反馈电路，以此来调节基极控制电压的占空比，来达到稳压的目的。同时，由于负载和晶体管串联，输出电压小于输入电压，所以又叫降压开关电路(buck开关电路) 。对应的并联开关电路原理相似，同时由于晶体管并联，电感产生的感应电动势与电压相叠加后作用于负载，所以输出电压会高于输入电压。
